Perhaps no other beer style in recent memory has sparked more of a debate amongst brewers and craft beer enthusiasts as the New England-style IPA. I personally stand firmly on the LOVE IT side of the fence. The style’s trademark juicy flavors and soft mouthfeel hit all the rights notes for me. As the name implies, the roots of this style trace back to the Northeast, with The Alchemist’s Heady Topper, Tree House Brewing, and Hill Farmstead topping the list of notable names. Turbid IPAs have quickly moved across the country, including here in Colorado, with a growing number of breweries embracing the style. Below you’ll find a list of breweries around Colorado offering turbid IPAs. Some breweries, like Odd13, are full in. Others seem to be dipping their toe in the hazy water. While this is by no means a comprehensive list, and will most likely be amended with another roundup, here are some of my current favorites.
Odd13 Brewing
With year-around offerings like Codename: Superfan and Noob, and countless variations and special releases, Odd13 is Colorado’s undisputed king of hazy, New England style IPAs. If you can make it to their cozy Lafayette tap room, take advantage of your opportunity to taste and take home some of the frequently rotating tap-room only releases. Odd13 also happens to create some of my favorite labels in the business.

Weldwerks Brewing
Greeley’s Weldwerks might be able to claim the most coveted NE IPA in the state. Juicy Bits has earned a name for itself as a favorite, and the accolades well deserved. Juicy Bits is still hard to find, with crowlers appearing on liquor store shelves on occasion, but if you’re up for a road trip, head to their Greeley tap room to stock up and sample some of their tap room-only Juicy Bits variations, like Strawberry Shortcake or Pina Colada. Weldwerks recently started canning Alpha Bits, which is available in 4-packs of 16 ounce cans. And it sounds like more offerings are on the horizon.

Cerebral Brewing
Cerebral is my personal favorite Denver tap room. A lot of that is thanks to Cerebral’s “house beer”, Rare Trait. Regardless of your hazy beer thoughts, this is a must-visit tap room for any craft beer enthusiast, and THE place to go before a Bluebird Theatre show.

Trinity Brewing
Trinity is well-known for their stellar Saisons and sours, as well as their cheeky beer names and labels. Hype Forager, East Coast Turbid IPA, is aged on tangerine zest, and clocks in 6.4% ABV and 70 IBUs. This one might be hard to find, as it’s listed as being available in fall and “extremely rare” on their web site.

New Terrain Brewing
Golden’s New Terrain Brewing might just be my favorite tap room in the Denver metro. An impressive setup nestled into the side of North Table Mountain, New Terrain makes for a great place to launch a mountain bike ride or trail run. But I digress, their beer lineup is also impressive, and Golden Haze, their NE IPA can run with all of the others on this list. New Terrain hasn’t hit distribution yet, so you’ll just have to head out to Golden and give them a try.
