If you’re the jammy music type, Dead Hippie Brewing might just be the perfect tap room for you. Their open and spacious brewery and tap room is tucked into a round building within a cluster of chain stores and restaurants off of Santa Fe Drive just south of downtown Denver. The open tap room features tall ceilings with light streaming in from high windows. You’ll find plenty of nods to Grateful Dead throughout the tap room. My first visit was a quick one, with just enough time for a 10 oz My Jenky Eye IPA, which was certainly good enough to warrant another visit.
Music
Not surprisingly, and much to my liking, a live Grateful Dead recording was playing during my visit. You’re most likely to hear live recordings from bands like Grateful Dead, The String Cheese Incident, or Widespread Panic. The “Setlist” board surrounded by upcoming concert flyers near the front door is a nice touch.
Beer Rides
For those interested in riding bicycles to beer destinations, Dead Hippie is just off the Mary Carter Greenway Trail, making for an easy addition to other bike-friendly south Denver/Littleton destinations like Declaration, Breckenridge, Former Future and others.
