Started in Tacoma, WA in 2002, Imperial Motion is a key player in the active streetwear movement. With their brand philosophy “Never Established… Always Evolving” the brand offers simplistic designs with practical application. This is certainly true for the The Imperial Motion Theory Jacket. It has all of the basic necessities of any light rain shell – adequate wind protection, light weight, coverage in the elements. What sets this jacket apart is the reflective upper body and arms, a stylish addition that offers added safety when it gets dark.
In Colorado the autumn months are always a wild card. Some years its snowing in September. Other years its eighty degrees out in December. This year has offered cool nights with the occasional storm, the perfect conditions for me to test the Imperial Motion Theory Jacket. The Theory jacket is perfect for those cool evening rides at dusk. It has a reflective upper body and arms, in case you get caught without a light and offers a great deal of weather protection in a lightweight package. In a milder climate this would be a perfect year round choice for the everyday rider. It has become my go to day to day jacket, even on subzero days, with a hoodie underneath the theory jacket offers optimal wind protection and warmth. Whether its a night ride into the city or an after work skate session, this jacket is certainly the first one out of the closet for me these days.
