Recently, I headed out into the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness with my family to get in some quintessential North woods exposure.  As the leaves burst into their ornamental fall colors, we paddled to our water front campsite. Having everything packed away into portable waterproof packs is essential on wilderness expeditions such as ours into the Boundary Waters. Having a nearly 2800 cubic inch pack with a comfortable and adjustable harness system fit into our quiver of packs for the weekend.  We had three larger portage packs for most of our basecamp gear and thought a side trip capable portage pack that we could easily throw into a canoe as we ventured out from our base camp would be a complementary addition to our gear hauling abilities.

SealLine’s RF welded backpacks offer a seamless all-weather backpack for nearly any type of voyage.  Completely water proof due to the developed and proven manufacturing process it receives the vote of confidence no matter where i’m headed.

I found myself throwing a weeks worth of clothing for a mountain bike trip into Appalachia. Not knowing exactly what the fall weather would throw at me, i wanted the most encompassing bag in my line-up to have on the trip.

On the airplane, it easily fit into the overhead compartments. I also felt that it was pretty comfortable to hike with as i made my way through the terminals to catch my flights.

There is an organizer that you can purchase that would hold a few pens and other knick knacks if that’s what you need to feel in order.

Upon arrival, I found myself just rolling it open and doing a dump of all the contents.  This might be a concern for some, but in comparison to the packs that I have that are compartmentalized, I find it easier to just see everything I have in there and grab for what I need.  Additionally, it gets re-packed well when it’s time to go again.  Pull everything out and then re-weighting it as the ride progresses is a fun process that I feel is an attribute that doesn’t get weighed on enough with this type of pack.

Getting Dirty on the River Bottoms!

I’ve also put this urban commuter bag into my regular day-to-day trips about the fine city of Minneapolis. Again, it’s fall here and the weather changes everyday. Having a waterproof bag is an essential.

Of course, there a few negatives to the roll top closure. Honestly, just one…when the bag is fully loaded i find my peripheral vision somewhat impaired. I’ve learned to adjust my over the shoulder traffic scan in accordance, but it is something to note and something to get used to.

In summary, the pack is super comfy and ultimately water proof and can take on a load that is worthy of a work day commute, a paddle around, or a mountain bike adventure. I’m super stoked on it and i hope that you get a chance to check one out.
