The High Sierra Shirt landed on my doorstep just as summer was letting loose it’s unforgiving grip on Colorado, finally making way for crisp mornings and evenings that mark the coming of fall. That very first day, I threw this shirt on for a night walk with my dogs, after temps had dropped, the wind had picked up, and a few random drops of rain were coming down. It was instantly comfortable, with that slim fit I like from my shirts, and the extra thermal lining provided just enough to keep the evening chill at bay.
This shirt is billed as an aprĂ©s go-to, and it’s certainly a great option for chilling at the tap room after a long day on the hill. For me, it’s the ultimate cool weather riding shirt for quick laps on my backyard trails. An iPhone slides perfectly into the beer pocket, and the zippered dry pocket serves nicely for stashing any other small essentials, eliminating the need to carry a fanny pack for those small must-carry bits and pieces. A long sleeved cycling jersey in disguise!
Props to California Cowboy for making those handy pockets discrete enough to keep the High Sierra Shirt from looking too techy for casual Friday at the office.
About That Fit
I almost always wear size medium shirts. Ts, flannels, button-ups, I like them all to fit slim. If you want the High Sierra to have that slim fit, size down from your normal shirt size. The small fits me perfectly, with or without a thin base layer (almost always Merino wool for me). Size up if you prefer to run a hoodie under your flannel.
Bottom Line
A timeless, versatile flannel for trail, travel, tap room, and everything in between!
