There’s no shortage of GoPro poles on the market these days, with every imaginable feature in the mix. The GoScope Boost first caught my eye at this year’s SIA trade show. In a sea of POV poles and accessories at the show, what got my attention with this pole was the new snow camo finish. Beyond that snow finish that caters perfectly to snowboarders, does this pole have the features the shooters are looking for? Let’s take a closer look at the GoScope Boost.
Features & Highlights
Snow Camo
If you’re a snowboarder or winter snow sports enthusiast who captures GoPro pole mounted footage, why wouldn’t you use a white pole? We’re certainly accustomed to seeing a pole in the shot, but why not decrease the distraction?
PS -I’m sold on the snow camo, but it’s also available in black.
1/4 x 20!
You might pass this one off, but this is one of my favorite features of the GoScope. Of course, you can use it to securely connect a leash. You can also use the 1/4 x 20 threads in the base to attach the pole to any standard tripod. That means you could connect it to a GorillaPod, extending the reach and options of an already versatile tripod (a great compact and lightweight hybrid tripod option for cyclists, hikers, or travelers). Or you could attach it to a full size tripod and use the pole as a boom or additional extension, reaching angles not normally available to a tripod on its own.
Scope Lock
The Boost is adjustable from 13″ to 26″ and uses GoScope’s Scope Lock technology to lock the pole into place at your desired length. A simple counter clockwise twist loosens each of two adjustable sections, which are tightened into place with a quick clockwise twist. Scope Lock is very secure. Grippy rubber on the adjustment points makes it easy to change length while wearing gloves or mittens.
Need more length? GoScope Boost Plus offers a range of 17.5″ to 40″
Bottom Line
In a crowded market, GoScope has a few convincing features that put this GoPro pole toward the very top of my list. Snow camo is a no brainer for snowboarders, snowshoers, and winter sports enthusiasts. Dual mount sled offers simultaneous multi-view capture. And the 1/4 x 20 threads (my favorite feature) makes the GoScope an incredibly versatile tool for anyone looking for a lightweight setup.
