The Case
The foundation of the PRO+ Action Pack is Hitcase’s waterproof (up to 33 feet), shockproof (up to 6 feet) case. The case hinges along the right side and snaps closed to completely seal the phone. Snaps on three corners help to ensure the case will not accidentally open. All phone functions are available, including access to charging and headphone ports.
A lanyard is included, and attaches to the bottom right corner. I did find it difficult to attach the lanyard through the tiny holes in the lower right corner. While a bit inconvenient, it’s not a big deal, as I don’t plan on removing the lanyard. It’s certainly a welcomed feature if you like to shoot selfies on the chairlift (who doesn’t?!).
At 3.25″ by 6″, this case is not small. Again, far from a deal breaker for me, but if you’re the type that likes to stuff your camera in the pocket of your tight pants, this rig won’t be for you.
As with many other cases that cover the screen, the touch screen doesn’t sense your finger as easily. I noticed this especially when my hands were cold in the middle of a snowboard run as I struggled to make adjustments and access settings menus in my camera app (ProCamera). I’ll be curious to test functionality with touch screen compatible gloves.
Snaps at the corners
The case is sealed around the perimeter, with additional rubber snaps at three corner to help ensure that it remains sealed.
The Lens
The PRO+ comes with a Hitcase’s TrueLUX™ Superwide Lens that threads securely onto the case. This lens is wide. Really wide. Like fisheye wide, without all of the distortion. The handful of images I’ve captured so far have been sharp and free of the heavy vignetting found on many wide lenses made for mobile phones. I’m impressed with the results.
I appreciate the thick rubber front and back caps that come with each lens.
Note: While they’re decent size, the threads on the case are plastic. Take your time and avoid cross-threading.
Wide and Macro lenses are also available separately for $24.99. Additional TruLUX SuperWide lenses are $34.99.
Railslide™ Mounting System
The hinges on the case also act as the unique Railslide Mounting System for securely attaching the phone to various mounts, including the ShootR Pole, TubulR Mount, StickR Mount, and ChestR Mount.
I’m always a little nervous about exposing my phone for POV capture, but the Railslide Mounting System has been nothing but secure and reliable mounted to my top tube and stem with the TubulR Mount during bike rides and the ShootR Pole while snowboarding. Each mount attaches to the case by sliding the mount onto the “rails” on the edge of the case. A series of clicks secures the mount in place, and pressing a lever on the mount while pulling on the phone releases case from mount.

More images will be added as I’m able to test other mounts, including the ChestR Mount.
Conclusion
I don’t own a GoPro, and I enjoy the conveniences (and challenges) of capturing images and video on my iPhone. I highly recommend the Hitcase PRO+ Action Pack for anyone who wants to use their iPhone for action capture. The TrueLux Superwide lens is impressively wide and sharp, the case is about as protective as it gets, and the wide variety of mounts caters to nearly any human powered activity, from snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding and cycling to motorsports.
