If I can wear a hat, I will. A lot of people don’t know what I look like without a hat. And the trucker hat has long been my preferred style of headwear for most occasions.
I still have an early generation Headsweats cycling cap in my gear drawer. That cap served me well through a lot of hot and humid days of riding in Nebraska. Now Headsweats is back on my radar in a big way, with their new Performance Trucker.
I’m not a big fan of low profile tech hats. I can’t do it. I’ve resorted to a cheap Greensky Bluegrass foam front trucker with a terry cloth band as my main running hat. It got me through, but wasn’t ideal. I often wondered why nobody had come out with a mesh back trucker hat with technical features, like moisture wicking and breathable materials. Then I found the new Headsweats Performace Trucker hats!
The Performance Trucker features Headsweats’ proprietary, breathable Eventure woven fabric on the shell, Eventure terry sweatband, and Eventure technical stretch mesh out back. The underside of the bill is black, to help reduce glare. Available in a wide variety of colors and designs, but our favorites are the Colorado Sunrise and Colorado Sunset hats.
BOTTOM LINE
I might never run (or hike) in another hat! It sits tall, is breathable, and I love the Colorado designs. Most importantly, it easily passes my “would I wear it to the tap room?” test.
