The first thing I noticed about the Horizon RTTs when I pulled them out of the box was how light they feel. I don’t have a gram scale, so I have to go on perceived feel here, but these shoes feel light both in hand and on foot. Who knows, but on my first three trail runs in these shoes, I dropped 10-15 seconds off my mile average on my usual local route.
The second thing that stood out right away is the tread. I thought these soles would be a bit aggressive on my usual terrain, but they proved to be just right overall, laterally supportive on uneven terrain, without feeling clunky. And they’re great on steep, sustained climbs and descents with dry, loose gravel.
The tongue felt a bit stiff at first, but softened up after a few runs. On the plus side, the tongue is saddled on both sides, so there’s absolutely no movement.
This is my first pair of Under Armour shoes, so I was unsure what to expect when it comes to sizing. Size seems to be on par with other shoes, with my usual size 10 (44 Euro) fitting me perfectly.
