Los Angeles garage psych punk purveyors Osees rolled in to Red Rocks Amphitheatre Saturday May 15th for a one-off show to one of the last pandemic-limited crowds of the early 2021 season. Threatening weather moved out of the area just in time, leaving clear skies and perfect temperatures for the sold out, pandemic-limited* crowd. The band showed few signs that they hadn’t played together in over a year as they plowed through a two hour set that catered to both new and hardcore fans. John Dwyer (guitar, vocals), Tim Hellman (bass), Dan Rincon (drums), Paul Quattrone (drums), and Tomas Dolas (keyboards) dug deep into the band’s discography, hitting songs across fourteen Thee Oh Sees, Oh Sees, Osees albums. Extended jams (“The Dream”, “Encrypted Bounce”) and live debuts (“Scotum & Scorpius”) highlighted the night and showcased this band’s wide range of styles and influences. These guys lived up to their reputation for live performances in every way, and I couldn’t have asked for a better reintroduction to live music at Red Rocks Amphitheatre after a 608 day gap between shows.

* around 2500 tickets were sold to this show, and all Red Rocks shows through at least mid-May of 2021. Regular Red Rocks capacity is 9,500.
