Dead Cross closed out their month and a half long tour at Ogden Theatre in Denver Saturday night, September 23. The recently formed supergroup made up of Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle) on vocals, Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Misfits, Suicidal Tendencies) on drums, bassist Justin Pearson (the Locust, Head Wound City), and guitarist Mike Crain (Retox) plowed through a set of originals from their self-titled debut album before closing out the night with a three song encore, including covers of GG Allin’s “Suck My Ass It Smells” and Dead Kennedy’s “Nazi Punks Fuck Off.”
Secret Chiefs 3 opened the night with a fantastically intense set, catching me completely off guard. This sprawling project from Mr Bungle alum Trey Spruance is not to be missed by anyone into technical, heavy, progressive music.
