With countless options across nearly one hundred miles of singletrack, the Buffalo Creek trail system has been my personal favorite place to ride in Colorado for many years. The completion of the Little Scraggy loop in 2016 elevated an already popular riding destination even more. Little Scraggy quickly established itself as THE trail to ride within the broader Buffalo Creek area. The main parking lot along Buffalo Creek Road as well as the lot at the entrance to Little Scraggy are routinely full on weekends. It’s undoubtedly one of the top must-ride sections of singletrack in Colorado. For this ride, I skipped the popular Nice Kitty to Little Scraggy loop for an old favorite route that had me out for five hours on pristine singletrack that I had to myself a vast majority of the day.

The Route (From Buffalo Creek Road parking lot)

Buffalo Creek Road > Morrison Creek > Colorado Trail > Redskin Gulch > Gashouse > Miller Gulch > Sandy Wash > Buffalo Creek Road

Distance: 25 miles

Time: 5 hours, with copious amounts of short stops

Weather: Mostly sunny, low 80s, with a mid-ride thunderstorm

A note to singlespeeders. Buffalo Creek is one of the most singlespeed-friendly trail systems in Colorado.
